Why Eat Healthily??*

I feel like we have heard a lot about why we need to eat healthily.  I almost skim over the information because I think I have heard it all already.  I’m probably going to say some of the stuff in this post you have already heard and hopefully add a few new ideas.  I invite you to read this with new eyes and perspective.

Food is fuel, we all know this.  So why do we spend so much of our lives eating overly processed, fake, cheap foods some of which comes from little windows??

I don't know how we got here, but I do know that when I eat foods like fruits & vegetables, healthy whole grains & starches, good fats, and lean proteins, I feel better.

Eating foods that are naturally nutrient-rich lead to weight loss, lower risk of developing heart disease, lower risk of developing diabetes, lead to healthier bone density and lower your risk of developing some cancers.  Gosh, I want all of these benefits.  But to be honest, when I am eating, I am not thinking about heart disease, diabetes… or any of these things.  I’m usually thinking about how I feel right at this moment.  Which is usually hangry.  What about you??

I have started viewing my foods differently and I am seeing some amazing changes. I am intentionally slowing down, doing some planning and thinking about what I want.  I’m changing my relationship with food.  I want my food working for me.  I want to feel good and be healthy and I want to have lots of energy.  By intentionally choosing the foods that I am putting in my body I am feeling better, I am stronger, and my mood has improved.

I challenge you to do the same.  Ask yourself these questions:  Are you living your life the way you want to be living??  How do you feel?? Really, be honest with yourself. Are you as active are you want to be?? Are you struggling to feel good after eating??

What is one thing you could change in your current eating choices that would lead you closer to being the person you want to be??
